Josh has been here since last Friday and even though we didn't get everything on my To Do list done, we've had a blast! We watched a great fireworks show at the park. He and Bompa even lit a few of their own. They went swimming in the river and rode bikes to the video store and back. That was scary! Josh got separated from Bompa and was lost for a little while. Josh and I went to see Hellboy II. We baked brownies and made Rice Crispy Treats. (Twice!) Today we made sock creatures and these layouts with pictures Bompa took. Josh made the first one. I made the second.

The only time I've ever mowed the lawn was while he was recovering from his stroke. He always points it out when he sees a woman mowing the lawn. I always tell him she's either a widow or loves to mow, lol)

Got up early to beat the heat while cleaning out the carport. Went to a couple of garage sales. Straightened my scrap room a bit then proceeded to mess it back up while making these variations of my Wish You Were Here ATC set.

It must be in my genes

I've noticed that A LOT of my blogging friends like the thrill of finding that special treasure at bargain prices. In other words, they like finding stuff cheap at thrift stores, flea markets, or garage sales. I guess it's true what they say about water seeking its own level, cause I love it too. There is just something comforting about a room full of vintage stuff, each piece with its own history. Oh, if they could only talk!

My mom and dad were into antiques and thrift store treasures for as long as I can remember. In fact, the picture is a purse my mom bought for 50 cents at the Goodwill when I was a little girl! She even let me play with it! Oh dear.

Both my parents were very creative and our home reflected their very unique styles, creations, and bargain finds. As a child I longed for a "normal" home. One with rooms like the kind I saw in the Sears or JCPenneys catalog. Later, of course, I came to appreciate and cherish it. And now I am happy that my own home is not so normal either!
